Information on superstitions around the world
Reasons for omitting a thirteenth floor include triskaidekaphobia, fear of the number 13, often rooted in cultural superstitions and historical beliefs associating it with bad luck. In response to this superstition, many architects and builders in American and Western European culture choose to omit the 13th floor, either by skipping straight to the 14th floor or renaming the 13th floor. In Jewish tradition, the number 13 is considered a blessing, not a curse. In fact, it's included for floors in buildings, bus numbers, house numbers, and apartment numbers in Israel.
